On September 23, 2023, Congress participants visited historical sites of Polish-Lithuanian Tatar settlement in Podlasie region: mosques and cemeteries in Bohoniki and Kruszyniany villages, two centres of historical Tatar settlement, granted to them by King John III Sobieski in 1679. Congress participants had the opportunity to meet with members of the Tatar community and experience firsthand the unique cultural heritage of this historic community. On the way to the Tatar villages the participants visited also a sample of the historical Jewish heritage in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth – renomous Grand Synagogue in Tykocin.

This visit, as well as Congress presentations, provided an opportunity to disseminate knowledge among specialists about Tatar monuments in the lands of the former Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, which are being prepared for nomination to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
