The opening ceremonies of the 17th International Congress of Turkish Art, as well as the ceremonial receptions for the first three days were held on the premises of the complex of Museum of King Jan III’s Palace at Wilanów. In the central section of the Wilanów Palace the exhibition “This is the Great Light and the Key of Paradise. Hymns from King Sobieski’s Tatar villages” was installed.
The Museum of King Jan III’s Palace at Wilanów, along with its historic park and gardens, is located south of Warsaw. It was built in the last decades of the 17th century as the summer country residence of King Jan III Sobieski. The king’s own program of decoration of the palace façades refers to his victorious battles and classical topics of the Greek and Roman ancient mythology. This residence was expanded by subsequent owners, most notably Stanisław Kostka Potocki, and transformed into a vast landscaped complex with numerous historical layers. The 45-hectare complex includes various styles of buildings, gardens and parks: North Garden, Baroque Garden – divided into two terraces, Rose Garden, two landscape parks – the North and South, and the Orangery Garden.
