The Congress sessions were held at the University of Warsaw. Their venue was the main hall and auditoriums of the historic building of the University Library. It is located in the very centre of the University’s Main Campus, on Krakowskie Przedmieście Street, which serves as an axis connecting Warsaw’s historic residential areas with the Royal Castle and the Old Town Square. The campus is situated in the historical centre of Warsaw, on a picturesque Vistula escarpment and includes numerous historical buildings and palaces dating from the 17th century (such as the summer Villa Regia of King Władysław IV) to the 19th century. One of these buildings (the one where Oriental Studies and Art History are currently conducted) was the home of the young Fryderyk Chopin.
